These fifteen images comprised my successful Royal Photographic Society Associateship panel of May 2008 (Applied and Professional, Documentary). Without reproducing the full supporting written material, their theme was that they show the reality of living in a former industrial area, rather than promoting the post-card image of the jolly old pasty-eating Cornish miner and the rose-tinted romance of sun-drenched engine houses in spectacular locations.
